Haynesville Correctional Center Releases

Haynesville Correctional Center is an active VADOC prison at 421 Barnfield Road in Haynesville. Its location inside Richmond County does not make NNRJ or the Sheriff's Office the record custodian. VADOC sets and executes state-prison release dates. A person may satisfy the sentence and discharge, leave on parole, transfer within VADOC, or be handed to another authority under a detainer.

Three milestones must stay separate. The anticipated or calculated date is a forecast. The facility-release date records departure from prison. If parole follows, the Virginia Parole Board's later supervision discharge date marks the end of that Board supervision. Calling all three “release” can create a false conclusion about current status.

Confirm Haynesville Prison Release

The VADOC Inmate and Supervisee Locator is the right public starting point. It covers current VADOC prisoners and people currently on VADOC probation or parole, plus other stated groups. VADOC says the system updates daily while warning that information can be inaccurate or out of date. The published scope is not a complete historical archive of everyone who finished custody and supervision.

1. Search with the first three letters of the first name and the full last name, or use the seven-digit DOC ID.
2. Use optional location, race, gender, and age-range filters only to distinguish plausible matches.
3. Accept the disclaimer, complete CAPTCHA, and read the location or supervision placement as current status.
4. Treat displayed release-date information as a forecast until VADOC executes the departure.
5. Seek the notification-of-release letter and signed Order of Release, Conditions of Probation, or Conditions of Parole for actual release.
6. If parole followed, use Board reports to distinguish the grant, prison departure, and final supervision discharge.

Haynesville Release Documents

VADOC states that a person satisfying a sentence is discharged or released on parole and receives a notification-of-release letter. The applicable Order of Release, Conditions of Probation, or Conditions of Parole is read, signed, and dated by the person and a staff witness. Those executed records supply stronger proof than a predicted date or a search result that later disappears.

A focused state records inquiry should include the full name, seven-digit DOC ID when known, approximate Haynesville custody dates, and the requested document or releasable field. VADOC inmate and supervisee records can be confidential except where law permits disclosure, and consent may be needed. Ask only for the release date or status, facility history, release document, or other precise material needed to resolve the custody event.

Haynesville Release Date Changes

A court sentence is the starting point, not the finished release calculation. VADOC considers sentence type and total, credit for jail time before receipt, concurrent or consecutive terms, earning classification, mandatory minimums, discipline, and other computation events. Earned sentence credits can be earned at different rates based on legal classification. Credits may also be forfeited for rule violations.

Virginia has no universal “serve 85 percent” formula. Certain current offenses are capped at 4.5 earned days per 30 days served, while other qualifying offenses can use rates from zero to 15 days per 30 based on earning level. A detainer, new sentence information, credit recalculation, parole action, or court order can shift the expected date or change where the person goes next.

Haynesville Release Supervision Records

A VADOC locator result assigned to a probation or parole district supports that the person is outside a VADOC prison and currently supervised. Richmond County is served by Warsaw Probation and Parole District 33 at 471 Main Street, Warsaw, (804) 333-3286. The district also serves Essex, Lancaster, Northumberland, and Westmoreland counties. It is not Richmond City's District 1.

Parole means release from prison under Board supervision. Probation is court-ordered community supervision and may follow jail, prison, or a suspended sentence. Neither term proves that all obligations ended. If the question is final parole completion, consult the Board's annual named discharge report and its supervision discharge date. Monthly Board decisions such as Grant, Not Grant, Revoke, or Continue on Parole answer a different question.

VADOC reports its custody has ended, though another detainer may still control.

Haynesville Release Transportation

VADOC's facility-release process provides release planning that differs from NNRJ practice. Approved pickup or public and bus transportation may be arranged for state-prison release. The person also receives release documents and applicable property. These state procedures should not be treated as rules for the regional jail, even though both facilities sit in Richmond County.

Eligible victims use VADOC's separate NAAVI notification system. VADOC distinguishes Anticipated Release, generally sent about 30 days ahead, from Actual Release. A Virginia jail VINE registration does not carry over automatically when custody moves from NNRJ into VADOC. Re-register through the system tied to the current custodian.

Facility staff can route current institutional questions, while statewide release and historical records remain VADOC-controlled.

Do not send a Haynesville state-prison record request to NNRJ or the Richmond County Sheriff. Physical location does not determine record custody. Use the VADOC locator for current state status and VADOC's records channels for release execution and facility history.

The directory is the source for the active prison's contact information and helps separate it from the closed Unit #17.

Richmond County Release Agency Boundaries

Sheriff Stephan B. Smith's Richmond County Sheriff's Office handles county law-enforcement duties but does not operate Haynesville or hold its state-prison release record. The Northern Neck Regional Jail is the regional local jail. Neither office can replace VADOC as the state record custodian.

The Richmond County Circuit Court can supply a sentencing, revocation, or other public case order that helps explain the legal term. That order still does not prove the date VADOC executed release. Pair court authority with the state release documents and current locator status.

Haynesville Unit Closure Was Transfer

Haynesville Correctional Unit #17 was a separate minimum-security unit on the Haynesville complex. VADOC closed that unit effective June 30 and July 1, 2024 for stated staffing, safety, maintenance, and operational reasons. The active Haynesville Correctional Center did not close.

VADOC expressly said affected Unit #17 prisoners were relocated to other state facilities according to security level and classification. A facility closure search result must not become a false release claim. Search the person in the current VADOC system, preserve the DOC ID, and seek facility history when a historical record still names Unit #17.

The exact institution name should be recorded with its date. “Haynesville Correctional Center” can describe current active custody, while “Haynesville Correctional Unit #17” may identify a historical assignment. The shared place name does not make the facilities interchangeable. A later community-supervision entry or executed VADOC release document must connect the individual timeline to an actual departure from state custody.

Note: Unit #17 closure evidence documents institutional transfer, while individual release still needs a person-specific VADOC record.
